Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This policy explains what information Valuo (“we,” “us”) collects when you use valuo.tech, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Draft placeholder — pending legal review. This is a reasonable starting template for a stock-analysis SaaS, not final legal advice. It has not been reviewed by a licensed attorney. Have qualified counsel review and adapt it — including jurisdiction, legal entity name, and consumer-protection requirements — before relying on it.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information — name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text) when you register.
  • Billing information — if you purchase Pay-Per-Stock access or subscribe to Pro, our payment processor, Stripe, collects and stores your payment card details. Valuo does not receive or store full card numbers.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, tickers searched or analyzed, features used, and similar interaction events, collected via PostHog for product analytics.
  • Device & log data — IP address, browser type, and similar technical data, collected automatically (and used for rate limiting and abuse prevention) and via our error-monitoring tool, Sentry, when something goes wrong.
  • Watchlists & alerts — tickers you track and the alert conditions you configure, tied to your account.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide the core product: run stock analyses, maintain your watchlists, and send price/valuation alerts you configure.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe.
  • To send transactional email (account verification, password reset, billing receipts, alert notifications) via our email provider.
  • To understand product usage and improve Valuo, using aggregated and per-user analytics.
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. Cookies & analytics

We use a strictly-necessary authentication cookie to keep you signed in. We also use PostHog for product analytics, which may set additional cookies or use local storage to track usage across sessions.

Placeholder — needs review: depending on where your users are located (e.g., the EU/UK), analytics cookies may legally require opt-in consent before they fire, not just an opt-out mechanism. This site does not currently show a cookie-consent banner. Confirm the applicable requirement with counsel and, if needed, gate analytics initialization behind consent.

4. Third-party service providers

We share limited data with the following providers, solely to operate the service:

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
  • Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) — source of the market prices, financial statements, and company data used to generate your analyses. We send the tickers you look up to FMP to retrieve this data.
  • PostHog — product analytics.
  • Sentry — error monitoring and crash diagnostics.
  • Email delivery provider — transactional email (verification, password reset, billing, alerts).
  • Hosting providers (Vercel, Fly.io, and our database host) — infrastructure that stores and serves the application and your account data.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

5. Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it (for example, billing records for tax/accounting purposes).

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@valuo.tech.

Placeholder — needs review: the specific rights that apply (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or others) depend on your users' locations and your business's legal entity and jurisdiction. Counsel should confirm which regimes apply and add the required disclosures (e.g., a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” notice if CCPA applies).

7. Children's privacy

Valuo is not directed to, and does not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International data transfers

Our service providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers of personal data outside your home jurisdiction.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and scoped API access tokens — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the app.

11. Contact
